About This Tour
Immerse yourself in the rich history, culture, and agriculture of the Sacred Valley on this full-day Pisaq tour. Our first destination is Cuyo Chico, where you will learn about the region's traditional ceramic techniques and experience a demonstration on the construction of mud bricks, a vital building material in local architecture. Next, we will journey to Paru Paru, a high-altitude Andean community part of the renowned Parque de la Papa (Potato Park). Here, your guide will introduce you to the ancestral farming techniques used by the locals and explain the importance of potatoes in Andean culture—a region where over 3,000 varieties are grown. After enjoying a delicious lunch prepared by a local family, we will continue to the Pisaq Archaeological Site. The extensive ruins at Pisaq offer a rich historical tapestry, including a large cemetery, agricultural terraces, religious structures, military fortifications, and astrological sites. This full-day excursion will allow you to explore all these fascinating areas. We will begin at the main entrance at the top of the mountain, then descend along the ancient pathways, passing the Inti Watana (sundial), guard towers, and taking in breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley and the town of Pisaq below.
