About This Tour
Embark on a 4-day immersive journey through Peru’s most breathtaking historical and cultural landmarks. This package offers an unforgettable exploration of Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and the legendary Machu Picchu. Your adventure begins in Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. On this day, you’ll dive into the rich history and culture of the city with a guided tour of its iconic landmarks. First you'll explore the hills above the city, visiting Tambomachay, Puka Pukara, Qenqo, and Sacsayhuamán — a sequence of ceremonial sites, fortresses, and ritual complexes that reveal the ingenuity and spiritual life of the Inca. After enjoying a delicious lunch you'll visit bustling San Pedro Market, where you’ll experience the vibrant atmosphere of local Peruvian life, offering everything from fresh produce to handcrafted goods. No visit to Cusco would be complete without seeing the Cusco Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece blending Spanish colonial and Inca styles. Then, explore the Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun, which was one of the most important and elaborate temples in the Inca Empire. Start your SECOND day by heading towards the Sacred Valley, a region filled with historical significance and natural beauty. On the way, make a stop at the Cochawasi Animal Sanctuary, where you’ll get up close with Andean wildlife such as llamas, alpacas, and condors. Later, arrive at Cuyo Chico, visiting a family-run authentic cultural experience. Here, you’ll participate in a hands-on demonstration of mud brick and ceramic making, connecting with the ancient techniques of local craftsmanship. Continue your journey with a visit to the Pisaq Archaeological Site, perched high above the Sacred Valley. Known for its terraced agricultural fields and stunning Inca structures, this site offers breathtaking views and a deeper understanding of Inca agriculture and military defense. In the town of Pisac, enjoy a leisurely lunch before heading to Yanahuara and where we’ll stop for a unique cultural experience — sampling Chicha, a traditional Andean drink made from fermented corn. You’ll spend the night in Yanahuara in comfortable and spacious rooms, giving you a chance to rest and immerse yourself in the peaceful surroundings. The THIRD morning will start with visiting the Maras Salt Mines, a stunning series of terraced salt pans that have been in use since Inca times. The sight of thousands of small pools filled with evaporating salt is a truly unique experience. From there, we’ll visit Moray, an ancient agricultural site with circular terraces believed to have been used for agricultural experimentation by the Incas. Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Ollantaytambo, famous for its Inca ruins and narrow cobbled streets. You'll hike the ruins of Ollantaytambo, an impressive site known for its steep terraces and intricate stonework, offering panoramic views of the Sacred Valley. Afterward, you'll board the train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. Wake up early on the FORTH day for the grand finale of your journey—an early morning visit to Machu Picchu, the ancient Incan citadel and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. With your guide, you’ll explore the awe-inspiring ruins, learning about their purpose and the fascinating history of the Inca civilization. After immersing yourself in the magical atmosphere of Machu Picchu, you’ll head back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch before returning to Cusco.- IMPORTANT! To secure the best Machu Picchu circuit and entry times, we recommend booking at least 6 months in advance.
