About This Tour

Embark on an unforgettable overnight adventure in the Ausangate region, renowned for its towering snow-capped peaks, thermal hot springs, and the stunning 7 Lakes trek. This tour blends Incan history, Andean landscapes, and local culture for a truly immersive experience. Your private guide will meet you at 7:00 AM at your hotel, and the adventure begins with a scenic drive to Tipón, an ancient Incan water temple. Here, you’ll marvel at the Inca Empire’s advanced hydraulic engineering, which allowed them to channel water through intricate aqueducts and fountains, a true testament to their ingenuity. From Tipón, you’ll continue on to Pikillacta, an impressive pre-Incan Wari archaeological site, where stone ruins of this ancient civilization stretch across the hillside. As you explore the ruins, the rich history of the region comes to life. After your exploration, indulge in a freshly prepared lunch by our cook, before embarking on a 3-hour scenic drive through the breathtaking Andean countryside toward Ausangate. As you approach, the towering peaks of Ausangate come into view, their jagged ridges and glaciers creating a stunning backdrop for your campsite. Once arrived, your camp will be set up beside the thermal hot springs, where you can soak in the warm waters while gazing at the glacier-capped peaks in the distance. After a delicious dinner prepared by our cook, enjoy an evening of stargazing, before settling into comfortable tents under the Andean sky.

The next morning, you’ll rise early to a hearty breakfast before beginning the 7 Lakes hike – a moderate 12 km (7.5 mi) trek at elevations ranging from 4,200m to 4,800m (13,780ft to 15,420ft). As you trek, the shimmering lakes reflect the towering peaks above, and you might catch glimpses of alpacas and llamas grazing peacefully along the trail. Along the way, you’ll also see local women in traditional dress, weaving vibrant textiles by hand, a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. There will be plenty of time to stop, take photos, and simply soak in the natural beauty that surrounds you. After lunch and some time to relax and take in the tranquility of the area, the team will pack up camp, and by 2:00 PM, you’ll begin the scenic return journey to Cusco
