About the Homestay

Experience a unique homestay in Paru Paru, home to the stunning Kinsa Cocha lakes and the renowned Parque de la Papa. This truly special opportunity to connect with the traditions and daily life of a Quechua-speaking community begins with a hotel pickup at 7 AM, followed by a scenic drive into the mountains. Upon arrival, your local hosts will warmly welcome you into their home, where a variety of cultural activities await. As the family primarily speaks Quechua and some Spanish, a guide will accompany you to assist with interpretation and enrich your experience. During your stay, you'll have the opportunity to: Learn about traditional potato cultivation, explore the intricate art of textile weaving, cut grass to feed the family’s guinea pigs, and take a guided walk to the beautiful Kinsa Cocha lakes. Throughout your visit, your host family will prepare homemade traditional meals. After enjoying dinner, you’ll have time to unwind before settling into a simple but comfortable guest room in their home. In the morning, breakfast will be served before you begin your mid-morning return to Cusco.

This is a one-night homestay, but if you’d like to extend your visit in Paru Paru, we’re happy to help with additional arrangements. The homestay can also be combined with the Kinsa Cocha hike. For an even deeper cultural immersion, consider visiting during Carnaval or during the potato planting or harvest season.
